Accutron Watches by Bulova
In 1952, Bulova began developing Accutron watches, an electronic watch guaranteed accurate to within 2 seconds a day, or 1 minute a month. A tuning fork is the secret behind this inherent accuracy.
In 1960 NASA began to incorporate Accutron technology into its equipment for the space program and Accutron timing mechanisms were used in 46 US space program missions.
In 1962, the Accutron 214 watch became the first wristwatch to replace the pocket watch by railroad personnel to keep the trains on time.
In 1964, President Lynden Johnson declared the Accutron watch as the official Gift of State to be given to world leaders as a Presidential gift.
